They say that a picture is worth a thousand words. (Just that sentence was ten words so, no, it’s not likely this one will peel off at a thousand 😊.) I want to ask what does this inserted picture say? What 1,000 words does it speak to you?
When I was a little younger--okay, a lot--younger, I’m guessing somewhere around 8th Grade, I had a buddy who had just moved in next-door. Todd was a year older than I and a grade ahead of me. No, his name is not a subtle pseudonym for me, myself, and I—we just happened to have the same name. Besides, you’d think I could certainly come up with a more creative pseudonym if that were my intention.

Recently I was part of a team of 5 which completed the GORUCK Starcourse challenge in NYC. The Starcourse is a 50-mile ruck during which teams of 2-5 people have to make their way around the city to find 26 way-points in 20 hours or less. Out of 60+ teams our team finished 24th—finding all our way-points and completing the course in just over 17.5 hours. We logged 59.6 miles! We saw the Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Harlem, Queens, and much more. And I have to say it has to be one of the best ways in the world to see New York. The only drawback was that we had to keep moving. Rucking, well, how do you define that? Simply enough it is going for a walk while carrying a weighted backpack (a ruck). The Starcourse was one of the most difficult challenges I’ve taken on in my life.

When The Shack came out, my older sister insisted that I read it, even though EVERYTHING I'd heard about it to that point advised the opposite.
Well, it's that time of year. I know it because the alerts on my smart phone keep feeding me pre-season baseball scores. Yes, it can be a very annoying but as much as I root for my team I'll have to figure our how to turn them off.
Learning the Word, Living the Word, Leading Others to do the Same. Okay, so this is more of a test article than anything else, but I hope to still draw you in so that you will read it. And I suppose before I write on any other topic, I might do well to explain just what in the world is Bean's Beanery . Why would I use such a name for a blog? Well, here goes then...
